About 4 days after I emailed back the letter of agency form along with my current landline phone bill for the number porting process, I received an email today acknowledging receipt of all the necessary information to port my number. The next email I get from them will let me know the date to expect the porting process to be completed.
They mentioned to make sure not to cancel my old service until the porting has been confirmed and completed. So far, things are moving along at a steady pace. I just realized that their customer service number ends in ooma (6662)! Actually, their entire number is really easy to remember now that I’ve thought about it, 1-888-711-6662 (ooma)!! Talk about rolling the dice  711-ooma
I read online that they are catching up on their porting backlog and have implemented an online number porting search or inquiry. I just went over there and it used to be just to check for available numbers in your area but now they have lumped it with checking to see if your exchange is portable. Out of curiosity, I inputted my area code and exchange and congratulations to me for having a number that can be ported over! haha I already knew that but I see that you can initiate the porting process right inside the ooma lounge, which is your account control center.
Let me go there and take a look…….and YES, it can be done online now, right inside your lounge in the add-on tab. Seems like things are getting more automated now which is good. I wonder when I’ll see the $50 international calling credit to my account. That will be the next exciting thing besides the completion of the number porting. I am looking forward to the onward progress of my ooma device and account. I still can’t decide if I want to go with their Premier service or not. I don’t really NEED the extra stuff nor the extra phone number…however, I could always use the blacklist service and use the second number as a dedicated fax number I suppose…
Anyway, so far, the Ooma Core Voip Phone System has met my expectations with their progress and it exceeds my expectations for the voice quality and ease of setup and use. I guess I was just a week ahead of their innovations and had to submit my stuff the old school way. I have a feeling there is a lot more to come as far as features are concern with ooma. I’m not sure when their new device ooma telo will be out, sometime this first half of the year I read. I wonder if I should have waited to get that….hmmm
