I purchased and activated my Ooma Core Voip Phone System in January and got a bonus of $50 international calling credit to my account. I submitted my form for the bonus and it actually took them awhile to get the credit showing up in my ooma lounge (ooma online acct).
After almost 3 weeks, I finally posted an inquiry at the ooma forum to see what the typical time frame is for that bonus and was told that it usually takes a week or two to process and that they would look into it for me to see what the hold up is.
The next day, I was told that they are a bit backlogged on fulfilling the requests but would get it expedited for me! That night, I checked my account online and there it was! More and more, I am feeling very confident with them. I mean, I know things take time to make happen and when it gets resolved right away, I am always surprised and impressed.
I’ve read some posts from people who had some international calling issues with not being heard by the people they were trying to call or dropped calls. Sometimes I think it’s too easy to be swayed by other people’s experiences instead of seeing for yourself how a product or service works for you and your situation.
I couldn’t wait to test out the international calling to see the kind of experience I would have and I’m happy to report after using the bonus credit tonight with calling Hong Kong, the two calls made were crystal clear. Total talk time for the two calls were about 1 hour and 30 minutes with no disconnects! :clapping:
When you dial your international number, ooma tells you what your current balance is and how many minutes you have remaining in calling that particular number. It’s similar to how calling cards sound when you dial in. International calling with ooma is prepaid, meaning that you can only make an international call when you have a balance in your account. Buying international calling credit is easily done within your ooma lounge online and the purchased balance never expires where as my bonus credit is only good for 90 days….but that is plenty of time for me to test it out and hopefully my family will use them up during the Chinese New Year holiday!
I’m really happy with the quality of the international calls we made to Hong Kong tonight. I think sometimes those calls are affected by the country you’re trying to call. Some places may not have enough relays to make a connection stable, who knows. So far, so good! :good:
Now the only thing left is the completion of my number porting which I actually had a dream about last night. I dreamed that it was finally done and I had to scramble to get the wiring in place so all the phones in my house is active on the ooma line. In reality, it’s only one one line from the ooma hub to the conjunction box for the phone wiring so it’s not that difficult to do. I may just get it set up tonight just for the heck of it!
