It’s been 3 days now since I began this health and fitness journey and so far, it’s going great! Daisy (my pda) has kept me on track with my schedule for exercise and meals along with other daily events.
I signed up for a free account at SparkPeople and it’s really nice! I can log my daily food and exercise activities and track my progress. Many other services that are online are either paid or free but have limited options that require an upgrade to see. I really like that they have sample exercises with video demos of the proper movements.
Inputting food items isn’t all that difficult and you can set up your own food groups and add in food label info manually too. I find that it’s easy to sit down with the stuff I normally eat and input them into my favorites all at one time. Then as I eat them throughout the week, it is easy to add that particular food item to my daily log in the proportions that I consume.
There’s a massive message board with tons of support and different sparkteams you can join. It’s a nice community. Some stuff isn’t perfect and it could use more progress graphs etc but overall, it’s a bit more comprehensive than any of the free sites I’ve seen, and perhaps more than some paid ones too! I haven’t tested them all yet but for what you get here, it’s well worth a try, especially for free! :good:
If you’re looking for a paid program, a really popular one is Fitday. With the PC version, you get a ton more features than the free online account plus you also get faster logging with the PC version of Fitday because you don’t need to wait for the web server to respond. Everything is on your computer ready for use! Last night, I was trying to log my food and exercise and the SparkPeople site was doing maintenance so I wasn’t able to do what I needed right then. With Fitday PC, you won’t have that problem, anytime it’s ready on your own computer. I believe it’s under $30 complete for the PC version so it is really affordable too!
I find it really interesting to log my daily food intake to see exactly how much calories, carbs, fat, and protein each food is that I consume. It’s amazing how it all adds up! All in all, things are going well and I’m right on track! :clapping:
