Happy Chinese / Lunar New Year!
It’s the year of the OX and that’s my year! Yesterday for Chinese New Year’s Eve, we had a family gathering with lots of yummy food! My mother was preparing stuff for two days and I helped her with parts of it yesterday for the party.
Sometimes I think it’d be really cool to have one giant family party for the new year…I don’t just mean my immediate family but extended too as I have a pretty large family. More than a decade ago when my grandmother was still alive, we used to have these huge birthday parties for her. It was soooo chaotic because there would be like 50-70 guests crammed into our house and kids running around all over the place. I think back then, there was a lot of little cousins who were under 10yrs old. Now a decade later, they are all grown up and everyone seems to do their own thing.
I too was a decade younger back then so I didn’t really do much of the food preparation as it was my parent’s job and my aunts would help out. 10 years come and go and people grow up, grow old, or die….kinda sad. I always remember my grandma’s parties because they were around this time of the year too so I sort of link Chinese New Year with memories of my grandmother. :hug:
One day, it would be really nice to have my own HUGE house and have regular (at least yearly) family (as many extended family) gatherings….with a giant kitchen and dining room that would accommodate all the relatives and their guests! It would be awesome! I can’t wait to manifest that!
