Traveling to Denver Colorado flying United Airlines

This is the second time I’ve flew to Denver on a nonstop flight from BWI to DEN and it still feels long to me. Flying out on a Saturday put me on a smaller TED plane but I think I may like it more. I used the Easy Check-in within my United Mileage Plus account and it was simple enough. This was the first time using the online check-in system and I would print my own boarding pass from my own computer at home.

What was interesting was that by using the easy check-in online, I was able to assign my seating. This flight was a new years sales price and when I booked it online, it wouldn’t give me a set seat. I ended up in a pretty decent seat one an exit row so I had mega legroom!

When I arrived at the airport, there was no waiting in line. I tried to scan my boarding pass barcode and it wouldn’t work so an attendant helped me. She said sometimes they don’t scan right. I had a bag to check in there but otherwise, I would just go through security. I think I overpack as usual. Having to go through security, I had to remove my jacket, shoes, and my laptop from within the case. I had two pieces of carryon luggage, my carryon suitcase and my huge laptop bag. I was lucky they didn’t delay me by searching through my luggage. But when I arrived at my destination and opened up my checked bag, I saw that they had placed a slip of paper inside stating that my luggage was subjected to a random baggage check. Everything seem in tact, it doesn’t look like they really went through everything. All my stuff was pretty strategically placed in there and those packing cubes really helped with the organization!

I am however glad that I bought new luggage locks the last time I traveled that had the TSA symbol I believe on it. The airport security can unlock it without cutting the lock itself! Luggage locks are not cheap and who wants to pay for new ones after every trip?

My luggage set is black which is about 90% of all baggage you see at the pickup point. This time I had looped a red rubber wrist band through my luggage tag holder for easier identification! It worked like a charm. While everyone else was standing around trying to see if they can recognize their bag, we were able to spot mine easily and grabbed it and left within 3 minutes! Even some lady waiting for her bags said that’s a great idea as hers were also black!

All in all, it wasn’t too bad of a flight, we were able to watch two shorter movies. I’m still not feeling all that well so flying was horrible on my sinuses. When will they have that pressure thing figured out on aircrafts so we passengers can actually have a relaxing pressure free flight?
