Photos at Rocky Mountain National Park in Denver Colorado
Last September I took a trip to Denver Colorado and here are some pictures I took with my Canon PowerShot A650IS. Because this camera boasts 12 megapixels, some of the pictures I’ve provided will showcase the ability to crop out details in the original photo while still maintaining the resolutions needed for quality printing. These photos of course have been resized for the web, originals were 4000×3000 pixels which at 300dpi would print out to quality 13″x10″! No retouching has been done, just resizing!
Here are some mountain photos I took on the way up to the top!
There two photos below were taken with the Canon A650IS‘ photo stitch feature which allows you to stitch several photos together with the Canon Photostitch program. Each of these were 3-4 photos taken in stitch mode and later were combined together into one. Some turns out better than others when stitched but that I believe it isn’t so much the camera’s limitations but how steady and consistent the photographer is with taking photos in this mode. Nevertheless, it was fun to do and wasn’t too hard to stitch together.
These next set of pictures was taken right before the sun set behind this mountain valley area. We saw all these cars pulled over on our way down the mountain and decided to see what was going on. Turns out Elks were spotted in the valley and lots of people were at the edge of the valley taking pictures! I grabbed my camera and did the same thing! The Canon PowerShot A650IS really shined here with its 12 megapixels! We were really far away and could barely see the Elk but with 6x optical zoom and the ability to view the picture instantly in the beautiful bright LCD flip screen, I could zoom in real close in the photo to see the Elk as if it was much closer to us than in reality! Some photos in this set will showcase the same image but one has been cropped down from the original so you can see the Elk in more detail!
It was a beautiful animal out in the wild. When the sun starts to set, we were told that the Elk makes this really high pitch sound that echoes through the valley. It does this in search of its mate, how cute!
I have tons of pictures but these are some of my favorites, enjoy!
